Hymnbooks and Resources

Our family enjoys singing hymns together and we have a quite a number of hymn books in our home. Quite a collection actually! :-)

If we could only use one hymnal, it would probably be the Majesty Hymnal by Majesty Music. We have multiple copies of this hymnal and enjoy using it as we sing with family and friends.

Another great resource is Hymns For Family Worship by Building Faith Families. This book includes a great selection of hymns, piano music and hymn stories. The hymn stories are well written and easy to read. Accompaniment cds are available and can be helpful should a family not have a musician in the home or if a family desires to learn a hymn that is new to them.

At the beginning of the Hymns for Family Worship book Steve Demme shares how his family came to be intentional about singing hymns in their home. Definitely worth reading! He also includes a short article on the background of Hymns and a reprinted article on hymns by Elizabeth Elliot. Again, definitely worth reading!! These articles are good to not only read once, but to refer back to for encouragement and inspiration.
